Oh, the things I can do now!

I've been around quite a while now and I've learned some pretty cool stuff. Mommy and Daddy say I'm learning and changing every day and they can hardly keep up. But for Gramma and Grumpy and you other folks who live far away you might not know about all the stuff I can do now.

Well, you've probably heard that I like food, and I do as long as the food has a "p" in it's name. For instance, I love pears, sweet potatoes, pumpkin (I think you call it squash in the U.S., but I probably wouldn't like it there), apples, peas, and spinach, but I do not like carrots. They make me vomit up ugly orange vomit that stains all my cool threads.

You also probably know that I like to talk. I'm not saying any official words yet, but Mommy swears that I say "mama" sometimes when I'm crying and she laughs because I also like to say something that sounds like "Oh my god!" Mostly I say words like "gee" and "hey" and "yeah" which sounds just like a rapper when he/she says "yeah boy". Mommy is a little worried that I might have gangsta tendencies.

I can also do all sorts of new things. I can give you a kiss if you put your cheek next to my mouth and I am just starting to copy you sometimes if you open and shut your hand like you're waving. I've also figured out if I raise my hands up Mommy and Daddy pick me up. They're so easy to train. I also can sit up all by myself and play and entertain myself now. Mom really likes that because she gets a little bit more time to herself. I don't understand how she would want any time not playing with me, but whatever, it makes her really happy.

You already know that I love to jump in my Jolly Jumper, but you probably don't know how high I can jump now or how I love to jump up and spin in the air. Another thing I really like to do is attack. (In fact, I'm attacking Mommy right now.) You have to be careful when I attack you because it's really really scary. I squeal and lunge and grab you and pull myself toward you and grunt as I chew and slobber all over you. I'm pretty menacing.

Another thing I'm really digging right now is playing games like peek-a-boo, row your boat, and horsie riding. I reckon I'd make a great jockey, but Mom thinks I might grow too big for that. That's alright, I won't need a horse to get around pretty soon because I'm starting to get mobile. I'm wriggling and scooting all over these days. If you put me on my tummy I like to push my butt up in the air and wiggle it around. And if you put me on my back I like to push myself around in circles and all over the place. I also thrust my hips up and down lots. Mommy and Daddy think it looks a bit lewd, but I don't even know what that means.

And if you must know I'm still not exactly rolling over, but who cares; I'm getting really close. In fact, I did it the other day, but since then my arm keeps getting in the way. But who knows, as fast as I'm learning things, I may have it mastered by the time you read this.

Daddy says it's bedtime (something which I admit I'm not so fond of), so I better go. See you all soon!

Happy half birthday Claire!!!!

A whole half of a year has passed and we still haven't met the cutest, newest member of the Niemeyer clan. Doesn't matter, we're already in love.

Best baby invention ever!

Last weekend Paul and I found a Jolly Jumper for $10 at a baby stuff swap meet, and it is magic! Elliot just loves it and will keep himself occupied happily bouncing up and down for 30 minutes or more. As you can see Nacho really digs it too. Maybe Elliot is an old soul like everyone keeps telling us because he really digs the old-fashioned second-hand baby toys way more than the shmancy new ones.

Elliot loves his swimming

Last week Paul came and participated in Elly's weekly baby swim class. It was great for me cuz I got to sit back and watch how much fun they had.

Happy half birthday Elliot!!!

Six months ago, little Elliot made his big entrance into the world and completely changed our lives and way of looking at the world. It hasn't always been easy, but I wouldn't trade anything for the beautiful, happy, funny little guy we get to share our lives with. We can't wait to see what the next six months and beyond will hold for our little family. Elliot, on the other hand, just wants to know when he gets to have some cake.
Thanks to Nana, Grandad, Uncle David, Rebeka and Rhiannon for celebrating Elly's first half birthday with us!
P.S. I loved all of these photos and just couldn't decide which one to post.

Great expectations

When you have a special child, it's never too early to start planning for his future. That's why we've signed up Elliot for baby astronaut training. Could Elliot be the first man on Mars??

I'm totally digging the real food!

So far I've tried rice cereal, sweet potatoes, apples, peas and carrots, and I'm yet to meet a food I don't like. Okay, so apples make my face screw up a little bit at first and peas come back up a bit, but I eat them all up yum!

Hip hip hooray!

Elliot revisited his meningitis doc today and we got all sorts of fantastic news. First, his kidney tests all came back that his kidneys are now 100% perfect! Second, his hearing test came back 100% perfect! Third, his developmental check showed that he's doing 100% perfectly for his age! So what does this mean for us? No more monthly visits to the hospital. Nope, the next visit isn't for six months! We are so happy and lucky and thankful that things are looking so good.
