Australia Day

This year we headed to Rockingham for a relaxing Australia Day on the beach. We didn't quite plan on all the little jellyfish who also thought that Rockingham would be an excellent place to hangout for the day. Lucky I brought some vinegar just in case. t helped take the edge off the minor stings our kids got and saved the day for a little guy who got thoroughly zapped. And who knew that catching and burying jellyfish in a huge communal grave could provide hours of entertainment for kids!?!

When we finally gave up the jellyfish battle, we headed up to the park on the foreshore to eat fish and chips and watch the smaller people monkey around on the playground. When it was finally dark enough, we made our way back to the beach and watched the fireworks over the water.

Fun times with the Otways

Spending a few days with the Otways is always good stuff. This time we checked out an adventure park, hung out on the beach, played Mexican train, and let the boys go feral running all around their property. Can't wait until our next visit! But I'll be staying away from the pond.

Rottnest Island

After many years of talking about it, we got lucky and snagged a campsite at Rottnest Island. So we loaded our bikes and tent and all the rest of our gear onto the ferry and took the very rough ride out to one of Perth's favourite holiday destinations.

And boy did we have fun! We took a history tour and a ghost tour. We participated in Rottnest's Amazing Race and came in second place (despite this mama flipping over her handlebars!) We rode bikes the length of the island and braved the well-overgrown snorkel trail. We had a blast on the floating inflatable park (despite this mama falling and partially dislocating my shoulder!) And we had a great time just chillin' out and enjoying each other.

I think we might need to go back soon!
