Xmas 2018

Another successful xmas this year with Grumpy and all of Paul's clan. We tried to screw it up so we wouldn't be asked again next year, but alas Paul nailed the kebabs and my chocolate mouse was pretty divine too.

More than gymnastics

What a super surprise it was to learn that Oliver was chosen to receive the Roleystone Gymnastics Club's inaugural "More than Gymnastics" award for his kindness toward a teammate who had gotten hurt. He was so stoked with his huge trophy and the fact that his name was the very first one on the plaque. We were darn proud of our little guy with a great big heart!

Fritz Frostberg fell into the cup one night!

Academic Achievement Award

We couldn't have been prouder of Elliot for bringing home his class's academic achievement award for which he was given a beautiful book. Elliot, your curiosity and passion for learning is just awesome!

Bye bye cubby house

Six years ago, Team Thomas designed and built a pretty awesome cubby house/swing set.

And then three years ago, we added an extension for our budding ninja warriors.

This year we decided to put it on the Gumtree and use the profits toward a new climbing/ninja-ing creation. What we didn't expect was that there'd be a mad rush of folks wanting to buy it.

Saying good-bye wasn't easy, but knowing that it would be going to some little kids who would love it as much as we do, made it a bit easier.

Now let the designing and building begin!

State Little Athletics Relays

Ollie was pretty stoked to learn that he qualified to represent our district at the state relay competition. Sure, it meant another day of training each week in preparation for the big event, but it was so exciting for him to get to run on a real track. Paul and I were so proud of how brave Ollie was walking out on that track in front of hundreds of spectators. I think he was pretty proud of himself too.

Map your World Scavenger Hunt

When we heard that Scitech was hosting a city-wide scavenger hunt, we signed up quick fast. Team Thomas was so excited that we couldn't wait until we got to the city and worked on a couple of challenges the day before. Then on the day of the big event spent all day running all over the CBD completing challenges and snapping photos. We didn't win any prizes, but we were pretty chuffed to finish 13th out of a couple of hundred families. We also discovered a couple of cool new spots and some amazing street art. Go us!

Dad's camp out

A few years ago, the kids' school started a Dad's club to try and get dads more involved with the school, their kids, and each other. There's been a couple of fun hikes and outings, but I think the boys will attest that this camp out has been the most fun so far. On all accounts, the dads let the kids run amok a bit more than would have happened had the mums been there, and there wasn't a vegetable to be seen all weekend, but our boys weren't complaining. Too bad Ollie got one of his migraines on the morning of the second day and they had to come home early.

We mums had our fun too. I hosted a karaoke night and the ladies sung show tunes and belted out ballads until the early morn!

Little Athletics

We've been warned by friends with older children to never let your kids do Little Athletics. And with training sessions two nights a week and comps every Saturday morning from 7.30 to 12.30 for three months, I can really appreciate why our friends gave us this sage advice.

But we've got a boy who loves to run, so we bit the bullet and hoped it would be worth all the time invested for a happy healthy kid. We also forced Elliot to do it and were really surprised that he ended up loving it as much if not more than his little brother.
