Tobias visits Caversham Wildlife Park

When we learned that one of Tobias's favourite animals is a koala, we just had to make the journey out to Caversham Wildlife Park to show Tobias the koalas and kangaroos, wallabies and wombats, emus and echidnas, dingos and dugites.

While there, we checked out the outback farm show where we watched the cowboys (or is it sheepboys?) sheer some sheep. Tobias also bravely tried to crack a whip and Elliot participated in the Great Lamb Feeding Race. It was a very close call, but I reckon Elliot and his lamb were right in it.

Bush walk with Tobias

Okay, so maybe it was a bit more of a bush carry than a bush walk for me, but we couldn't let Tobias leave Australia before hiking up to the water tower on the hill by our house for pretty awesome views of Perth. ~ Oliver

Tobias visits the roos at Nana's house

We see so many kangaroos in Australia, we forget just how cool it is. All of these hoppers visit Nana and Grandad's yard every night. Tobias thought it was pretty awesome. ~ Elliot

Tobias and Casey Visit the Tunnels beneath the Fremantle Prison

Okay, so I've wanted to do the famous Fremantle Prison Tunnel Tour since I moved to Perth, but never really had a reason to do so. And then I mentioned it to Tobias, and he was dead keen. So I bought tickets. And then I realised what I had done.

In the tour we climb three stories down a ladder (I'm scared of heights) into narrow tunnels that run underneath the prison (I'm claustrophobic) and oh yeah, it's dark (I'm afraid of the dark).

The day before the tour, I was in a cold sweat much of the day and convinced Paul that he should go instead of me. But the next morning, I'd rustled up the courage and bravely faced the tours.

I'm so glad I did it. Tobias and I splashed through knee deep water and rowed our little canoe all around the labyrinth below the prison decked out in the most elaborate get-up of protective gear that I've ever dawned. And I survived without any major anxiety attacks.

It was super fun, but if you want to do it when you come to visit, I think it's Paul's turn.

Tobias!

On the 10th of August our little family grew by one for a month as Tobias (a friend of a friend) from Germany joined us to improve his English and help us out a bit with the kids. It was a full month with lots of trips around the city to show Tobias all of the greatest things (sometimes from a small child's taste) about Perth.

And gosh how the boys loved him! Okay to be honest, Elliot LOVED Tobias. Oliver toyed with him. One minute he liked him, the next he was telling him to go away.

But guess who brings up Tobias more now that he's gone? Ollie. Like every day.
