I was so stoked when I found a beautiful AirBnB in the Sydney inner suburbs which had us in the CBD, the Taronga Zoo, or Luna Park in with just one quick bus or ferry ride. The house even had glimpses of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the backyard. It was perfect!
What we didn't count on was the devastating bush fires burning millions of hectares just tens of kilometres away making the air thick with smoke and giving the sun a freaky pink glow. Armed with asthma puffers we made the best of it, and had an amazing Sydney holiday. And luckily not long after we left, the skies opened up and drenched the fires, giving the fire crews a fighting chance at the infernos.
