The National Zoo

When Hurricane Irma threw a wrench in our Cuba plans, we ended up with an extra day in DC. What better way to spend a sunny indian summer day than a trip to the National Zoo where the orangutans travel on the ropes above you between their enclosures and the lowland gorillas show off their hairy bums. An imminent panda birth made those exhibits off limits, but we still had a fantastic day with the animals.
